Caution: Consumer information.  Some Funeral Homes have claimed a large increase in the price paid for funerals  by marketing  funerals as a "package". The funeral director sells a group of items that have been bundled together, including a casket, for a package price. There may even be a modest reduction in price if  you purchase all the items together as a package.  Every Funeral Home is required by federal law to give you a copy of their General Price List  before discussing the funeral arrangements. Buy ala carte from the General Price List and allow us to supply the casket.  It might just save you a thousand or two!

Austin: AMBIS, Austin Memorial & Burial  Information Society, is a member of the FCA, Funeral Consumers Alliance. AMBIS  is a totally non-profit consumer orientated organization that is the best source of local information on end of life decisions and information on funerals and cremation. They publish a quarterly news letter and do surveys of local funeral homes and cemeteries that are worth far more than their modest membership donation. If you are in or near Austin, the information from this organization can save your family an amazing amount of money on funeral expenses!

National: This is the national website for the FCA. It is the source of  more information on death, dying, funerals, cremations, planning and more end of life decisions than you could read in a month. FCA is doing more work to help fight the sky rocketing cost of funerals than you could imagine.  There is no cost or fee to access the world of information on their website.  They also offer membership in the national organization for a very modest donation. JOIN! You could not obtain this wealth of information anywhere except for the FCA and their affiliates.
